How many days have I got left?

Ice cold Summer rain

A while ago, I got taken in by the stupid free ipods trend. I used a credit card to sign up for this dvd rental thing, didn't rent anything, and when they still hadn't validated my account after ages, got fed up and cancelled the membership. Well, they appear to have validated it now, quite a while after I gave up on the whole thing. So the easy part's over, right? WRONG. Who is going to get 5 people to sign up for a stupid offer that they're never going to use just to help someone else out? I wouldn't. And seeing as none of my friends are paticularly gullible and/or owe me favours, I think I'm stuck.

Just to clarify-don't be stupid and sign up for this. It's stupid. Really. Totally and utterly pointless.

However, if you feel like being a rebel and not following my advice, be helpful, and use this link to sign up.

Don't say I didn't warn you! (and I know sneakily placing those links in there was pretty shameless, even by my standards :P).

So that was today's rather pathetic rant, but seeing as free ipods aren't really causing me any pain, I didn't need to go on and on (and on, and on). In other news, the weather really has been crap.

If you live in London and recognise where that photo was taken, go you!! Yes, that's right, it's crap central, home of 1001 kebab shops. The photo quality, however, is not. Pretty good for a mobile phone camera, don't you think?

I hope you're all enjoying Summer, and sorry that I haven't really been blogging as much as I promised I would.

The Potter Brigade

This is it...I finally decided to take the plunge and return to my blog, after being rather ashamed of myself about the state I'd left it in. There's an excuse though! I've had one hell of an amazing week.

It's been parties left, right and centre here. Not to mention some fantastic trips to the spa where me and about 50 other people (which are newly acquired friends) were pampered like goddesses. I ended up getting VIP tickets to Jamie Oliver's restaurant, where it gave me great satisfaction to squish my lemon meringue pie in his face, because even a lifetime of school dinner campaigning wouldn't stop him being annoying. Oh yes, did I forget to mention that I won the lottery? Sorry...I'm just feeling a bit delirious from all the expensive champagne I've been drinking (after becoming a millionaire, I've decided I do like champagne after all). So I think that sums up my week. And seeing Jesus in concert at the London Arena. That was an amazing experience.

So that was me pretending that I've been so rushed off my feet busy that I didn't possibly have time to make another post. Apologies to anyone reading this and thinking "hey, I already knew you weren't serious! I'm not THAT dumb". I was just afraid that people might think I'd gone a bit mental or was on drugs if I just left it like that.

Despite the inventiveness though, my week hasn't been that boring, and I have been busier than usual, BUT not busy enough to neglect my general internet habits. Then I looked back at the last post I made and thought that I should at least have something more lengthy or interesting at the top of the page. And here we are :)

Something that almost everyone's been talking about is the release of Harry Potter 6: The Half Blood Prince. I didn't go so far as to dress up in a witches hat and cape so I could stand outside Borders and wait to pick up the book, but I did go the next day to buy it (I missed "around 10 O’clock" by a few hours though). My friend sent me a text message at 5pm saying that she'd already finished the book and that she thought the ending was crap. Me? I was at the cinema, and by the end of the day I was only on chapter 4, or something ridiculous like that. In my defence, I do like to pace my reading a bit (especially when it comes to Harry Potter books) so I don't finish the book too fast, but I'm finding this one doesn't seem to have the same "can't put it down" factor as I'm familiar with-even though I found book #5 too long and boring in parts.

I did get the some of the plot ruined for me by clicking on a stupid message board link (which in no way indicated that the content of the post was to do with the book). I kinda tried to click the back button quickly, but the bold text had already raped my eyes and forced unwanted knowledge into my brain. I'm not entirely sure if what I saw was true, but I'm thinking yes, and I don't want to try and confirm it in case any more of the story gets spoilt. I suppose it's not really a big deal-last year I got told the ending of Harry Potter by a loud girl at school who hadn't even read the books yet, and didn't really understand any of what she was saying to me. "HARRY POTTER'S UNCLE DIES!!!" "Uncle? What? Harry Potter doesn't have an uncle, he only has a...NOOOOOO." Except the "noooo" wasn't so shouty, it was more disappointed, and, uh, quietly psychotic.

Expect some kind of enraged, capitalised statement from me I've finally finished reading.

Someone's got issues

What if you emailed someone to see if they were blown to pieces while London was being bombed, and they didn't send you an email back. Are they a complete JERK?!

(I suppose if they did get killed then they're off the hook, but I sincerely doubt that happened.)

Discuss.

...shocked...

Oh my God. I really don't know what is going on. I keep thinking about people I know who might have been travelling into town this morning. There's too much stuff to take in....I only got alerted of this bombing thing by my cousin who sent me a text message to see if I was ok. Then I turned on the TV and there were all these breaking news things like it was 9/11. I'm assuming that people reading this know what I'm talking about.

Both my parents were travelling to central London but luckily they're ok. It's very worrying though because I can't get through to anyone's mobile phone. My thoughts are going out to anyone who has been badly affected by what's happened-remember to stay safe.

Cornwall minus the pasties

I'm desperatley trying to think of a way to make this blog entry entertaining to read....I am just SO bad at talking about what I've been doing without making it sound really boring and like an itinerary.

So on Friday evening, I went down to Cornwall for my cousins's 18th birthday. Unfortunatley I can't write a load of stuff about how we went to the beach and it was spectactularly beautiful, because it rained most of the day on Saturday. I spent a large amount of time wedged between family members on the sofa, watching Wimbledon (which I hate) because there was nothing much to do. There was a barbeque and a party in the evening, which was nice, plus it didn't rain any more. I know this has already gone down the boring route and I'm already making it sound like I had a terrible time, but really it was quite fun-I enjoy spending time with my cousins and it was nice to get out of London, if only for a weekend.

Saturday night was both bad and good. We had been kicked out of Anna's (my cousin) room to make space for other "older" relatives, so had to sleep in her sisters bedroom on these god awful materesses which were...well, undescribably horrible. The kind that look reasonably ok until you lay down and there's a spring poking you in the neck which could burst through the material at any moment. Everyone was up semi-late (around 1:30) and after that I was the only one awake-I really could not get to sleep on this horrible torture instrument and at one point I actually tried to sleep on the floor, but there wasn't enough room. Know what time I was up until? 6:20am. By that time I was actually quite looking forward to going downstairs for breakfast after staying up all night, but then I finally went to sleep, which was a bit of a let down, and then got up at 9am. 2 hours 40 mins sleep :( It was worse.

Well there we go, I've broken an unwritten rule and gone into a bit of detail about what I've been doing. I'm really at a loss as to what I should blog about...has anyone got suggestions? Constuctive criticism? Money? Anything?

Comments about what you'd like to hear about would be appreciated :D

Oh yeah, edit: I opened up a photoblog!! There's not much in there at the moment, but more to come. Go, now.
